Aneroid Barometer, T.A. Reynolds & Co. London
Description
T.A. Reynolds & Co. was a late 19th to early 20th Century maker of Clocks, Barometers and Scientific Instruments, located at 40 Percival Street, London E.C.1. The barometer is marked with the makers name and the serial No.1881. It is a heavy brass cased pocket style temperature compensated aneroid barometer and altimiter that indicates air pressure on a silvered dial over a range of 24 to 31 inches of mercury and altitude over a range of 0 to 7000 feet. A very small needle indicator can be rotated with the glass face bezel to set the daily pressure reading. The reading can be compensated for altitude via an adjustment screw on the back. The outside diameter of the barometer is 11.5 cm (4½") and the depth is 5.2 cm (2"). The bevelled edge glass is about 2 mm thick. There are a couple of very minor imperfections on the inside edge of the glass and there is some staining of the silvered dial. |
