Scandinavian Design Cartel Clock
Tags
Scandinavian design Cartel clock, Circa Mid 20th Century.
The elaborately carved giltwood case stands about 54 cm (21¼") tall and is 37 cm (14½") wide. The carvings depict a Viking ship atop the dial and mythical fish cradle the movement on either side. A golden anchor is central to the carvings below a supporting plynth and it is here that a view of the pendulum can be glimpsed as time ticks away.
The 16.5 cm (6½") diameter dial is adorned with Arabic numerals and fancy pierced hands. It is protected by convex glass with a brass bezel.
It has a quality 8 day Exacta pendulum movement by Ross of Sweden. The bell strikes on the hour and half-hour.
The movement has been expertly serviced by Durham's Clock Centre, Hawthorn SA.
A key is included.
Note: There are a few small areas on the top of the fish tails where the guilding has chipped away (see detailed photos). |
