Anchor Lantern, Hull Steamship Co., SS Palma Boy

Tags

The lantern is stamped with the name of the shipping line, HULL STEAMSHIP CO., the name of the ship, SS PALMA BOY, and the royal crown emblem (96), which may indicate that the ship was also a royal mail steamer.

The oil burner uses a 1 inch wick and the winder is marked ENGLISH MADE 1 IN W.

The name "Hull Steamship Co." appears in Issue 4758 of the The Hull Packet and East Riding Times (3 November, 1876) and Issue 9872 of the Aberdeen Weekly Journal (1 October 1886).

Research is ongoing to confirm the history of the SS Palma Boy.
